Nutraceutical business indicators such as functional ingredients are to feature on a new Frost & Sullivan tracker.
Analyst Frost & Sullivan is to introduce a new tracker for the nutraceutical business as it adds functional ingredients to its list of topic areas.
The new annual study is to focus on functional ingredients including omega 3, probiotics, prebiotics, antioxidants, insulin, calcium, fibre, vitamin D, and plant sterols and stanols.
Global vice-president of the analyst's food practice Shomik Majumdar says: "We are proposing this programme in response to our clients' needs to understand the consumer decision process and the willingness to pay for functional ingredients."
Frost adds that consumers now commonly spend time in stores looking at nutritional content and other dietary information provided on packaging.
The analyst suggests that functional foods in particular are claiming a greater space in the subconscious minds of shoppers.
Frost's existing coverage in the food and beverage industry sector includes tracking of other aspects of the nutraceutical business, additives, ingredients and animal feed.
